Precision Adder

« Back to Glossary Index

A precision adder is a module designed to accurately sum two or more control voltage (CV) signals, typically used for combining pitch CV signals without introducing errors or discrepancies in the resulting voltages. Precision adders are useful for transposing sequences, creating complex harmonies, and performing various CV signal processing tasks within a modular synthesizer patch.

A standard mixer or adder module can also sum CV signals; however, they might introduce small voltage inaccuracies when combining pitch CV signals, which can result in slight tuning issues. Precision adders are specifically designed to maintain the highest possible accuracy when summing CV signals to avoid these problems.
